As the strategic delivery partner to lead the Transformation programme at HPC, Future Arc achieved £5m per annum OPEX saving (15%) in year
Currently under construction in Somerset, UK – Hinkley Point C is one of the largest construction projects in Europe and will play a critical role in the UK’s future energy strategy. The project has been one of our key clients since 2019. The project, still has a lifetime Capex of £25bn – £26bn.
The project commissioned a review of the Supply Chain function as Hinkley Point C prepares for the next major milestone in the construction – the lifting of Unit 1’s domed roof.
The challenge was amplified by the difficult political and global economic situation having a material impact on the global supply chain, whilst the Covid-19 pandemic has led to project delay.
Future Arc was brought in as the strategic delivery partner to lead the Transformation programme and provide various delivery capabilities as well as programme management. Our role further involved interfacing with the broader HPC Transformation team.
The outcome of the programme was extensive, covering: a complete overhaul of the Strategy and Operating Model for the function (moving it to a matrix organisation), a full systems transformation including developing automated reporting to track directorate performance, a full skills assessment and capability change across the function, developing a ‘best in class’ service model embedding it in operating procedures and standing up a Supplier Relationship Management capability with a number of activities including the creation of a Supplier Value programme strategy. A key outcome was achieving c.£5m per annum OPEX saving (15%) in a year.
